G'day Chase

Well this is our little fella Chase on his very first day here in Middle Swan, in fact the very first half hour of his tiny little life!

Well as for his stats well we named him Chase Graham, and his birthday is TODAY!!! the 17th of May. His a massive (in our family) 7 pounds 9 (3430) and the doctor stretched him out to 52cms, and finally he was born at 8:36am Sunday, the day after Swan Districts beat East Fremantle in the WAFL... You little beauty!

Coal Dam Park walkabout

Well it was time for another walk and this one would be with the littlies Harrison and Oscar, with a little walk around Coal Dam Park. The walk is one of the shortest ones I think we have ever been on, but it's still a little ripper and the kiddies love it. Coal Dam Park is part of the old Midland Locomotive work shops, which were closed a fare while back.

After World War Two the reservoir was expanded, the walls were lined with concrete and the base with ash. It was used to store sub-bituminous coal from Collie that deteriorates rapidly on exposure to air and becomes combustible. A mechanical grab and transporter travelled along the lenght of the Dam along this bridge, removing coal from wagons and dumping it in the Dam. When required the same machine scooped the coal from the Dam and reloaded the wagons.

Along the walk we pasted these shovels in a little park garden, so the kiddies couldn't resist the chance of a quick dig.

Next to the road was two of those sculptures that are scatted around Midland, so we had to wonder over and have a gander. These ones are called Kate and Sam (children of the workers), as all these sculptures are connected to the old Midland Workshops.

Here is another Sculpture from the Midland Workshops and this is called Flag man Fred, he's one of our fav's.

As we come to the end of our walk we came to the old Midland Workshops, as you can see there is heaps of redeveloping going on all over the place. There's still the hospital to build but the police department is in and going, the old Workshops are being dune up and look real beaut. When it's all done and finished i'm sure we will update ya with a new post on it, but for now that's about it...... so see ya.
